How WhatsApp’s Status Update is Taking up Space on Your Phone

WhatsApp status update which was launched barely a week ago has been received with some excitements by Smartphone users across the globe with many referring to it as the App’s direct response to Snapchat.

Unknown to many, the status update has come at a time when storage is fast becoming a daily issue of concern among Smartphone users who have to constantly update other Apps to have the very latest of features and also be in sync with current trends.

Unlike Snapchat and Instagram, WhatsApp status updates are automatically downloaded and saved on a user’s internal storage (memory). You are not likely to know this because the images and videos are not shown as part of your phone’s gallery. This is also likely to affect your phone’s performance especially if you don’t have a large memory for storage.

Here are four simple steps that you can follow to free up space on your internal memory.

1.    Enter WhatsApp folder on your phone’s internal memory

2.    Open the Media Folder

3.    Open the Statuses Folder (All downloaded statuses (images/videos) can be found here)

4.    Copy downloaded statuses and paste them into another location of your choice in your microSD (SD card)
